Anderson Theatre, Film, and Dance

Our Mission

Anderson Theatre is the educational theatre organization sponsored by Anderson High School. Our goal is to familiarize AHS students and the wider community with the performance, technical, and literary aspects of theatre by means of the classroom, productions, and extracurricular activities. We put up three or four large productions each year—generally a musical in the Fall, one or two plays in the Winter, and a Musical in the Spring—as well as a One Act Festival, a student Film Festival, a Senior Showcase, and often more. We also sponsor educational trips to student theatre conferences (like the Ohio State Thespian Conference) or to cities with a rich theatre culture.

Anderson Theatre is an ever-growing and expanding organization that maintains its commitment to the students by keeping up with the demands of 21st Century educational theatre. This includes both technical elements (sound, lighting, set construction, costume, hair and make-up techniques) and acting instruction/techniques taught by professionals brought in from all around the US. We are committed to continuing the decades-long tradition of excellence that defines theatre at Anderson High School.

Who We Are

Anderson Theatre is led by one member of the AHS faculty and supported by a staff of theatre and business experts. Several of our staff are Anderson Theatre alums, which showcases both their dedication to the department and the success of their career in Theatre. The AT staff works tirelessly with over 100 students per production. Their passion, skills, knowledge, and artistic vision combine to inspire the students of AHS to create amazing theatre.

Countless others are employed by the two summer camps, TOAST Film Camp and TOAST Theatre Camp, as Teachers, Directors, and Producers.
